Status Report: January

I am restarting monthly status reports, mostly because I find them helpful to take a “pulse-check”, so here we go.

Christmas: A relaxed lunch for 16. What was really lovely was the truly international lunch it was. We had a family from Sweden we just met that morning and their girls could only talk to our girls with their father interpreting or using Google translator. The other family were from South Korea but had worked in Turkey and Cyprus for years. It was so interesting and very encouraging.

Bible Reading: in detail through Matthew and continuing with a Psalm a day.

Other reading: A book of sermons by Oliver O’Donovan, The Word in Small Boats – encouraging. Finished Death Comes for the Archbishop, Willa Cather – lovely, review to come. Also reading Alphabetical by Michael Rosen, fun.

So much time for reading: because I had to finally deal with the addiction to candy crush and have deleted it off all devices. I have SO much time to be productive now!

Watching: NCIS: LA – we enjoy that series. Also working our way through How I Met Your Mother, bit tacky at points, but funny & light-hearted too.

Running a little: After 3.5 months of no running and lots of foot pain, things seem to have calmed down and I have gone for a few runs. I do love running and I have really missed it. On the other hand, I have discovered a world of DVDs with fitball/pilates techniques which are great for my body and that our now heated pool is great for solo aquarobics!

Kids Christian camping: we are on the brink of it all. The two older kids are headed off to a camp next week together for 4 nights. Husband has convinced a very gracious friend to take the youngest for 2 nights, giving us a mini-break as well. Marvellous! Very thankful.

Holidays: One week of holidays at home coming up soon, looking forward to the down time and playing the board games given at Christmas, including the Adelaide edition of Monopoly.

Planning: 4 talks on Hebrews 11-13 for the end of term 1, graciously enabled at this time of year by husband who has given me one day a week in his office to work all day. This also explains the continuation of blogging recently!

Trying: very hard to finish a photo book of long service leave 12 months to the date after we finished it. 12 days to go…

Enjoyed the end of 2014: with the whole family at the Twenty20 match at Adelaide Oval.
